Action Man Revamped

With this project I aimed at bringing back the old toy action hero, Action Man, that every boy at some point in their lives knew too well. However I've made him seem a tad bit darker, yet still just as heroic, to give the hero some new flare. This was to help promote him to an even greater extent because I believed a darker look would seem even more appealing and cooler to kids, instead of a more typical and rather bland 'perfect' hero.

Here are some examples of my work.

Jamie Hewlett:

- I absoloutely loved his style for his artworks for the band ' The Gorillas', and his take on the 'Monkey King'.

- Believed he has a very fresh and creative take on crafting his characters.

He doesn't take them too seriously and gives them a wacky persona, letting them blossom with their own cool, funky and charismatic charms.

- This provided me with great incentive to adopt his style into my own work somewhat.

DC Comics:

- Looked at DC as I believed that most kids who loved comics, surely would love action figures and toys. As I did.

- So I imagined putting them together in a merging art style and promotion would be a fantastic idea of integration.

I thoroughly enjoyed this project and would definitely look forward to utilising even more of this type of idea in the future!
